From geological and geographic point of view, Luberon is a far flung chain of limestone hills, whose formation is more or less contemporary with that of the Pyrenees around forty million years ago.
The Luberon Mountain stretches from Cavaillon up to the valley of Manosque and it cut into two unequal parts by the fault of Lourmarin : The Grand Luberon and the Petit Luberon
